OFFICIAL RULES
This giveaway begins on 12:00am on December 10 2011, and ends at 11:59pm EST on January 31, 2012.
How to enter: You may enter by your choice of one of the following two methods. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Limit one entry per person, and one entry method per person.
1. Pre-order Rewire Your Brain For Love by Marsha Lucas, PhD (traditional book or e-book) from the bookseller of your choice before 11:59pm EST on 1/31/2012, AND send an email to rewards@rewireyourbrainforlove.com with “I pre-ordered” in the subject line, by 11:59pm EST on 1/31/2012.
If you’ve already pre-ordered the book, thank you! To enter the giveaway, just send an email to rewards@rewireyourbrainforlove.com with “I pre-ordered” in the subject line by 11:59pm EST on 1/31/2012.
If you enter the giveaway by the pre-order-and-email method and your entry is chosen, you will be required to provide purchase confirmation to qualify.
2. Alternate method of entry: Write an essay of at least 1,000 words (1,500 words maximum) about how you would use an iPad 2 to increase empathy within your community. Submit your essay by mailing it via US Mail (no alternate delivery methods) to Rewire Your Brain for Love, 1350 Connecticut Ave. NW, Suite 801, Washington DC 20036. Entries must be postmarked no later than January 31, 2012, and received no later than February 8, 2012. Essays must be submitted in English at a minimum of 1,000 words and a maximum of 1,500 words, typed and double-spaced on 8½-by-11-inch paper. Essays not meeting the minimum length, exceeding the maximum length, or handwritten will not be considered. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, illegible, or incomplete essays; postage-due mail; or essays not received for any reason. Essays will not be acknowledged or returned. The essays will not be judged for a winner; simply entering an essay on the required topic gives you a chance to win. By entering with an essay, Entrant warrants that his or her entry (1) is original and does not infringe the intellectual-property rights of any third party, (2) has not been published in any medium, and (3) has not won an award.
Regardless of entry method, incomplete and/or inaccurate entries and entries not complying with all rules are subject to disqualification.
Void outside the 50 United States (sorry!) and where prohibited by law. Do not enter if you are not at least 18 years of age and a legal resident of, and located within, one of the 50 United States, or the District of Columbia at the time of entry.
ELIGIBILITY: Legal residents of the 50 United States, and the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older are eligible to enter, except employees of Sponsor, and any other organizations affiliated with the sponsorship, fulfillment, administration, prize support, advertisement or promotion and/or their respective agents, affiliates, subsidiaries and members of their immediate families or persons residing at the same address. Family members or those who have a prior or existing business or psychotherapy relationship with Marsha Lucas, PhD are not eligible.
LIMIT: Total of one entry per person, and one entry method per person.
WINNER SELECTION AND PRIZING: On or about February 8, 2012, a random drawing from among all eligible entries received will be conducted under Sponsor’s supervision, using Random.org. One (1) winner will be chosen at random to receive a 16GB Apple iPad 2 (Wi-Fi capable), as pictured above. Approximate retail value (ARV) = $499. WiFi service is not included in the prize. Potential winner will be notified by e-mail. Winner will be required to provide his/her name and physical mailing address for delivery of the prize. Prize will be sent to the winner within thirty (30) days of the Giveaway closing date. Sponsor will assume costs of shipping the prize to the winner. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portions thereof) of equal or greater value if prize (or portions thereof) cannot be awarded as described. Sponsor will determine all elements of prize at its sole discretion. Prize may not be assigned, transferred, changed or redeemed for cash, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Prize is awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee express or implied by Sponsor. Sponsor disclaims all and any liability for the actual provision, quality or nature of any third-party product or service accepted by the winner. The awarding of any prize is contingent upon full compliance with these Official Rules. Entrants agree to be bound by Official Rules and agree that if winner fails to provide proof of identity, is found to have violated Official Rules, or otherwise does not meet eligibility criteria, prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner in a random drawing. Entrants understand that Sponsor is not liable for injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising from participation in this promotion and acceptance, possession, and use of prize. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Giveaway or in the announcement of the prize. Decisions of Sponsor are final and binding in all respects. If the prize notification or the prize is returned as non-deliverable, or if a potential winner is found to be ineligible or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules, the prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. Any tax liability is the sole responsibility of the winner.
ODDS of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received.
PRIVACY: By entering and providing the required entry information, you acknowledge that Sponsor may also send you information or special offers it believes may be of interest to you about its publications or other complementary goods offered by Sponsor.
OTHER: Sponsor assumes no responsibility for entries it is unable to process due to network, hardware or other technical failures; or any other reason, or incomplete, damaged, misdirected, or lost entries. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the web site or otherwise in violation of the rules. Sponsor further reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or modify this promotion if not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, technical corruption, non-authorized human intervention or force majeure. In the event of cancellation, Sponsor reserves the right to select winner from among all eligible entries received prior to date of cancellation. The use of automated entry systems or any other conduct that impedes the integrity of the Giveaway is prohibited. In the event of a dispute regarding online entry, entry will be deemed made by the holder of an established e-mail account associated with the entry.
GENERAL: Except where prohibited by law: If winner notification is returned as undeliverable, an alternate winner may be selected by random drawing. By participating and winning a prize, winner releases Sponsor, its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and agencies and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability with respect to the prize won and participation in the Giveaway. Subject to all U. S. federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited.
